“When you walk in the path of your mother, you learn to walk like her.”


A study of US History 1820-1913 through the eyes of revolutionary Araminta (Harriet Tubman). We visit her grandparents during the middle passage 1750s. Aramint’as dreams and Vincent Harding’s There Is A River takes us there. We visit those who inspired her like Nat Turner. We see those she inspired like France Ellen Watkins Harper, Sojourner Truth, etc. We examine her affect on the politics of the day, her collaboration with John Brown. A major section focuses on the Civil War and her role as soldier, general, spy, business woman, and doctor.  Araminta’s struggles and  WEB Dubois’ Black Reconstruction gives us a grand picture of the conflict –before, during and after. Finally, we look at the days and years after physical captivity of Afrikans was abolished and into the turn of the century.
