What of community did you see that helps you see what must have 

Following her tradition, Rit starts to sing to Araminta, like her mother Modesty sang to her. She sings of hope - small and quiet as first then she sends it spirally - gaining speed, and space until it fills the the midnight sky. Araminta is her 5th child so sings of a determination whose biogenetic rope extends back home  and to the beginning of time. She sings of a faith with the density and power of a Black hole. She sings the name Modesty and the names of her brothers and sisters - Araminta's uncles and aunts - by blood or not. Araminta will need to know them in the future she meets them.

Araminta hears other sounds from the womb -  Some are her mother's and father's work songs that made the work easier and the time go by faster. She hears rhythm songs, foot stomping, hand clapping and the syncopated voices of children's games and the sacred ring shouts.

From the womb, she hears the sound of black coot bird, She felt the rythmn of her mother's heart when her father was near.
